Last month I set myself 100 goals for 2016. This post reflects on which goals I’ve achieved during the month. These successes I can then bank to remind myself of how far I’ve come. So welcome to my February success bank.
I had 3 events scheduled to go to in February:
- TEDx Galway
- Angela Lansbury
- My friends 50th birthday party
I was able to get to all three events. The TEDx talk in Galway was amazing. The speakers were inspiring and you can now view these on YouTube. Just search for TEDx Galway. I recommend Bob Carley’s speach.
I also managed to see Dame Angela Lansbury receive a Volta award from Taoiseach Enda Kenny. I had been expecting the Irish President Michael D Higgins, so was sad that he wasn’t there. (It was like waiting for the Queen and getting David Cameron instead!)
Dame Angela was most charming and a great lady. It was astounding to realise that she was 90 years old and seemed so fit.
We flew over to the UK for a weekend and managed to catch up with various family members and attend our friends 50th birthday party. I left early as we had our little one with us, but hubby stayed and caught up with people he hadn’t seen in a while. Whilst we were all exhausted afterwards, we were glad we made the effort to go.
We went to the local theatre and saw both “of mice and men” and “blithe spirit”. I didn’t get to see “The night Joe Dolan’s car broke down”. It was the evening before the flight to the UK,and after running around making sure everything was set up for my Dad to be on his own for two days (oxygen, food, medication, phone top up), we also had to put our dogs into kennels and all in all, we just didn’t make it.
I’ve booked another show instead, so we now have tickets to see Driving Miss Daisy.
I haven’t seen any more of the movies on my list, however, I did take my little one to see Alvin and the Chipmonks: Road Chip, and I was pleasantly surprised. We both giggled the whole way through!
I didn’t get to weightloss meetings every week, but I’m still going. I managed to loose 4lbs this month, so I’m happy with that. I’ve learnt that porridge for breakfast works well, as does preparing food in the slow cooker and having a store of LighterLife bars!
On the other hand, I didn’t get to Sasta at all. I had to remind myself that it’s just once a week, and be more specific in this goal. It also impacts on my weight loss goals and my unspoken of goal: to run a 10k by the end of the year!
I do go to yoga each week and have even attended a workshop to help me develop my yoga practice at home. This includes meditating and I’ve downloaded an app to help develop my practice in this area.
In relation to sleep, and getting up early, this is still a work in progress!
In addition to the goals set out, I’ve started to keep a gratitude journal. I’ve found this to be very beneficial.
I don’t do it every day, but I have started getting into the habit of completing my gratitude journal and then watching a TED talk each morning. I’m find that this really does set me up for the day with a positive mindset.
In relation to reading a book each week, I’m still working on this. Some books I can skim read, whilst others like the Happiness Advantage, I took longer to read, because I valued the content. I have managed to post a book review most weeks, but have to catch up.
Decluttering my home is also a work in progress. Some areas are on hold, as they are dependent on other things.
I still go to the Toastmaster club and will be joining the Professional Speakers Association in March, the date for February clashed with the birthday party!
We haven’t been able to do any travelling around Ireland this month. This was expected, and next month we will have more opportunities with the Easter holidays.
I actually created two e-learning courses this month: my wardrobe declutter and the bedroom declutter courses. I like the wardrobe declutter course so much, I used this material to start working on my declutter book. I even ordered a book cover!

Whilst we went to the cinema, and we have our special time when we go t the local coffee shop, we haven’t done any more of our goals. The magic show is next month though.
Again, I haven’t been able to do any more of these goals.
So that’s February. It was a great month, and seeing Dame Angela Lansbury has to be the highlight for me.
