Whether you’re in a job or not, whether you have your own business or not, you should be on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is like Facebook for business professionals, but is so much more powerful.
Here are some reasons to be on LinkedIn:
- As with Facebook, it’s free.
- It has over 365 million users.
- You can upload your CV for everyone to see.
- Your CV can include links to your company website, Facebook, Blog and Twitter accounts.
- People can give you recommendations that everyone can see.
- Because you accumulate connections (and recommendations) from different workplaces, this validates your CV. This is especially important to your potential next employer, who may have experienced people exaggerating or lying on their CV’s.
- Make connections with people you know. It’s the ultimate networking tool!
- You can add up to 50 different skills. These are searchable. Think about who might be looking for someone with your skills…
- You can join up to 50 different groups. These groups allow you to post information, show your expertise and get connected to people with similar work interests. People can elect to follow you here, which is a great opportunity to connect.
- You can follow lots of different companies and see who is employed there. Do you know anyone they know? Could you get introduced? I personally see who is following my company and connect with those who do!
These are my 10 reasons to be on LinkedIn. Can you think of any others?
Take care for now
