Since completing my Life Coaching course in 2015, I’ve been setting goals for myself each year, using Leonie Dawson’s Shining Life Workbook. It’s a great little workbook that helps you review the previous year, and clarify what you’d like in the following one by reflecting on each part of your life.

Last year I set myself 119 goals and this post is a quick look back, before I share my goals for 2020.

Movies to see

As a family, we love the movies. These are just some of the movies I saw with either my son, my husband or both!:

  • How to train your dragon 3
  • The secret life of pets 2
  • Men in Black International
  • Jumanji
  • John Wick 3
  • The lego movie 2
  • The kid who would be king
  • Avengers: End Game

The new Star Wars movie is out shortly and we’re all looking forward to it, even though the early reviews aren’t very positive.

And although, we planned on going to see Aladdin, Lion King and Toy Story, my son just didn’t fancy them. I suppose that just a reflection of him growing up a little faster than I expected.

Places to go

I so wanted to travel this year, but we’re still going through probate with Dad and so haven’t had the funds to do so. In addition, hubby’s new job is in Germany, so he gets tired of traveling. Being at home is where he wants to be! Saying that, we did get over to the UK and having some friends over meant we did a weekend tour of Northern Ireland. So here’s what we did:

  • Book of Kells
  • Guiness Factory
  • Splash Tour of Dublin
  • Giant’s Causeway
  • Dark Hedges
  • London Zoo
  • visit hubbys family

So whilst we didn’t do a lot of traveling this year, we did some and some of those goals had been there in the background for a while.

Events to attend

In the same way we didn’t do a lot of traveling, I also didn’t get to many events. Both those that I did get to weren’t even an option this time last year, and so I’m grateful for the opportunities that turned up for me.

  • Marie Forleo event in London
  • Denise Duffield Thomas workshop in London
  • Women’s Inspire Network conference
  • Leitrim Enterprise Office Network meetings

Reading Goals

So far I’ve read over 70 books this year. I re-read “A Town Called Alice”, helped a friend self publish a book of short stories based on her life, read several books by new authors like TE Kinsey, LJ Ross and JR Ellis. Many of LJ Ross’s books become instant bestsellers when they are available for order. I also read Marie Forleo’s book, which was a New York Times no.1 bestseller.

Writing Goals

When it comes to writing, this year has been nuts. And whilst I didn’t publish all the books I intended, I have published the following:

  • Happy Habits Journal
  • My 90 Day Gratitude Journal (2 versions)
  • My 90 Day Dog-itude Journal (3 versions)
  • My 90 Day Cat-itude Journal (3 versions)
  • My 90 Day Decluttering Journal
  • My 90 Day Kindness Journal
  • My 90 Day Beginners Journal
  • My 90 Day Bullet Journal (2 sizes)
  • My 5 Year Line A Day Journal (2 covers)
  • My 90 Day Goals Planner (2 sizes)
  • Positivity Planner 2020 (2 covers in 2 sizes)
  • My 10 Week Christmas Planner
  • My 90 Day Weight Loss Tracker (5 covers)
  • My 90 Day Morning Habits Tracker

Healthy Habits

For all my good intentions, the only healthy habit I completed was the 10,000 steps a day for 30 days. I did this in May for charity, and raised a little money

Home goals

My goal in 2019 was to clear some of the clutter, and with friends coming over to stay, we actually did do some of it. We now have a spare bedroom, and my dad’s bedroom if now a library/office/study. I also sold some of his stuff on ebay.

Homeschooling

One of my proudest achievemnets was teaching my dyslexic son how to read, and this has made home schooling so much easier. We no longer have tears and melt downs. Now we have have a fabulous balance, and we’re starting to catch up again. That solid foundation is starting to pay off.

Just for fun

I didn’t do any of the fun things I planned to, and yet 2019 was fun. I found that our home school was more relaxed, and tapping into my creative side was great. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow!

Personal Development

I did get to Tony Robbins in London and it was amazing. I did find the upselling annoying but I got from it what I wanted. I also qualified as a Bio Energy Therapist.

I didn’t learn how to use Camtasia, but found a different video maker and am learning that instead.

I didn’t do a sleep out for homelessness. I didn’t see one locally to do, and am limited with looking after my son.

I’ve learned so much in 2019 but I don’t know if it counts as a skills. I attended some fairs and had a stand, so I learnt what works and what doesn’t, and sadly that includes how not to make a profit at an event

Scary goals

I was in the press but it was as part of a networking event, and whilst I have mssively improved on my spending habits, I haven’t gone one whole month without spending!.

Finish off

The documenst for Dad’s probate were submitted but sent back, causing a lot of problems, and until that’s done, I can’t sort out his campervan :(.

Being a Life Coach is about helping others clarify what they want, setting goals to make it happen and then taking action. And that is what I also want for myself. Looking after my dad meant a lot of sacrifices, and I have no regrets about that time, but 2019 was a whole new year and it threw up some challenges, but it also sent loads of opportunities my way, and for that I’m deeply grateful.
