If you want to build something, anything, from a house to a business, it needs a solid foundation, and that foundation lies in your habits.
Whether your goal is to lose weight, write a book or save enough money to retire, it’s the steps and actions that you take every day that underlines your success. So these are my 3 reasons why your habits are the foundation to your success.
1. Habits are you on autopilot
Your habits are the things that you do so often that you do them unconsciously.
Think about what you do every morning. Do you hit snooze or do you jump out of bed and grab a run? Do you get an early night or do you stay up late playing games or reading a book?
We are all capable of change, even if we don’t realise it.
The thing is, when you become conscious of your habits, you have the opportunity to change them. And when you change your habits, you change the results you get.
For example, if you get into the habit of going to bed a little earlier, then you when you wake up, you’ll feel more refreshed and you’ll be in a better frame of mind to take on the day.
2. Your habits determine your results
It’s common sense, but good habits lead to good results and bad habits lead to poor results.
If you look at the habits it takes to have a healthy body, then what habits will help you success and what habits will set you up for failure?
If you have a goal in mind, whether it’s losing weight, writing a book or climbing Mount Everest, think about the habits that you need to cultivate to make those dreams possible.
3. It takes consistent action to create success
“The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” ― Confucius
It may have been said a long time ago, but it’s still true. Doing something small every day soon has a massive impact.
Writing 1000 words a day means that you’ll have a book to publish is just over 2 months.
Walking 10k steps a day means that in 3 months you’ll have walked a million.
Don’t underestatimate the power of small.
