Positive affirmations are one of my happy habits for a reason and in this post I’m going to share nine steps for creating powerful affirmations.
Affirmations can help to re-program your mindset and become the person that you want to be. They are used by many people to help them focus on their goals and create the life that they want. I have mine written out on the first page of my bullet journal and add to them whenever I want to work on a new area of my life or business. For example, I won’t wins awards as a housekeeper, but I noticed that the tidier my house was, and the more I decluttered the more I welcomed in, so that became an affirmation. Now I keep my house tidier and keep decluttering because I know that I’ll bring more money into my business!
1. Powerful affirmations start with I am
This has two benefits: it personalises the affirmation and puts it in the present tense. This means the affirmation is about you and you alone and is grounded in the now.
2. They are always in the present tense
When you use the present tense, then you are stating that something has already happened. It’s not something that you are working towards or wish will happen. It’s something that is already done.
3. They are always positive
When you use positive affirmations, you are stating what you want, not what you don’t want. The universe doesn’t hear what you don’t want so for example if you say that you don’t want to be poor or overweight, then what the universe actually hears is that you do. You do want to be poor and overweight.
4. Powerful affirmations are short
Affirmations that are short are easy to remember!
5. They are specific
A powerful affirmation is focused on exactly what you want. The more specific that you are, the clearer it is what you want to bring into your life.
6. They are active
Powerful affirmations have energy—they have an active, present tense verb in them. You are affirming what it is that you want to do. Whether you’re living in a house by the dead, driving a posh new car or losing weight, you are doing something. You are taking action.
7. They include a positive emotion
When you manifest what you want, how are you going to feel? How do you want to feel? Throw that in and see what happens.
8. They are personal
The most powerful affirmations are the ones you write yourself. When you use generic ones, they just don’t have the same power, because they aren’t really focused on you.
9. Powerful affirmations are habitual
To get the most out of your affirmations, you need to use them repeatedly and consistently. That way, you re-wire your brain to accept them as true. Repeat them as much as three times a day and then see what happens.
So that’s my nine steps for creating powerful affirmations.
Make positive affirmations one of your happy habits and see what you can manifest into your life.
