Declutter challenge day 3 - books

Declutter challenge day 3 – books

Day 3 didn’t start particularly well for me. I was woken up at 7.30am by my Dad after he confused the time/date of his doctors appointment. We did get to the doctors, much later, but it derailed my plans for the day. But the day isn’t over, so there is still time to make a small dent in the clutter. It just won’t be as big a dent as planned.

Yesterday I finished my wardrobe declutter, and made a start on the books in my bedroom. There are 3 bookshelves full to the brim of books. My goal is to reduce this down to one bookshelf, so there’s a lot of work to do.

As I deal with this, I’ve come up with a plan of sorts. The only books I’m keeping are:

  • those books I love that can’t be downloaded as an ebook
  • signed copies of books
  • first editions
  • reference books
  • my husband’s books
  • books my son will read in time

Once I’ve taken my Dad home and checked he has all he needs, then it’s back to work.

What obstacles to your decluttering journey have you encountered?

How are you getting round them?

The things is not to give up. The journey to any success is never straightforward. It’s more of a squiggle than a straight line. I came across this quote on facebook and loved it. So I’ve made an image of it for you:

Giving up on your goal because of one set back is like slashing your other 3 tyres because you got a flat.
