40 Things that you can declutter for Lent

Today is Ash Wednesday and the first day of Lent in the Christian calendar. there are now 40 days to Easter, and I’ve seen some 40 day lent challenges floating around Facebook (I wish I’d thought of that!), so instead, I’ve compiled a list of 40 things that you can declutter for Lent.

  1. clothes that don’t fit
  2. clothes that you haven’t worn for over 2 years
  3. clothes that you don’t like for whatever reason
  4. clothes that have stains on them
  5. clothes that need repairing
  6. socks with holes
  7. tights/stockings with ladders
  8. shoes that don’t fit or aren’t comfortable
  9. shoes that are worn out
  10. handbags that you haven’t used in a while
  11. accessories that you don’t like or use
  12. make-up that’s stale or that you don’t use
  13. nail polish you don’t use or that’s past it’s best
  14. hair products you’ve grown out of
  15. any personal grooming items you don’t use
  16. any personal grooming products out of date
  17. any medication that is out of date
  18. pillows that flop when you balance them on your arm
  19. any bedding that you don’t use
  20. any towels that don’t get used
  21. any books that you don’t love
  22. any reference books with out of date information
  23. magazines that you’ve read
  24. any books on your Kindle that you’re not going to read
  25. kitchen gadgets that you don’t use
  26. cups, plates etc that are chipped
  27. food in the fridge that is out of it’s use by date
  28. herbs and spices that you just don’t use or that are out of date
  29. special teas that you don’t drink or keep for someone who likes them
  30. manuals for things that you don’t own any more
  31. notes from courses or qualifications that you’ve taken and haven’t looked at in a year
  32. any email lists that you’ve subscribed to but don’t read. Unsubscribe from them.
  33. any emails older than 3 months that you haven’t read. Check them and delete. If they are from a mailing list, unsubscribe.
  34. pens that don’t work
  35. games/jigsaws with pieces missing
  36. chargers for phones you no longer own
  37. old mobile phones
  38. old reading glasses
  39. old calendars or diaries
  40. old greeting cards or postcards that you don’t want
