My goal for week 2 was to declutter my lounge. This is the place I spend most of my time. It’s a space for relaxing with family, watching tv and movies, playing games and just having a good cup of tea.
The main clutter problem in this room is the accumulation of ironing. So this morning I decided to “eat that frog” and do this first. It took a while, but I managed to catch up. A little bit of nagging and my little one took the ironing upstairs and we hung everything up.
Once the ironing was done, then it was time to assess the rest of the room. The sideboard needed clearing, dead flowers were thrown away, the coffee table cleared and the fireplace cleaned. Things on the mantle-piece were put away and a photo frame brought downstairs to balance the one already there. Once the room was tidy, then it just needed a quick dust, vacuum and floor wipe.
Surprisingly, because of Christmas, this room was relatively tidy and once the decorations were cleared away, there wasn’t much left to do.
Achieving this weeks goal in one day was quite an accomplishment, so I’ve banked that success, however, I noticed that the room sounds empty when the clothes are put away and I personally don’t find that comfortable. It’s funny how the acoustics change, so I’m considering putting in a rug to dampen this down a bit. I’ve kept the Christmas smelling diffuser in the room, but I think a different smell is in order. Need to do some research on this.
After completing this goal, I decided to reward myself and so I took my little one to see Star Wars, The Force Awakens. Another goal achieved!
