As part of my kitchen declutter, I first need to tidy up my kitchen, and this starts with the kitchen worktops. To me, the kitchen shown in the image is nice and tidy, but it also feels cold and clinical. What I’m aiming to achieve is a more homely kitchen. It is after all the heart of the home.
So my vision for the worktops is that they are clear except for a few appliances, like the toaster, the coffee maker, the kettle and microwave. These are the gadgets we use almost daily and so would be pointless to keep in a cupboard.
In addition, I want to keep canisters for tea, coffee and sugar out on the worktop, as well as the bread bin, knife set and mug tree.
Knowing this, and being able to visualise the finished product means that anything else currently on the worktops needs to either return to where it should belong or needs to find a new home. This will be in one of the cupboards, in the bin or in someone else’s home.
So that’s my plan for the day. I don’t know how long it will take or how far I’ll get, but what I’ve learned on this process is to keep trying.
Take care for now.
