12 reasons you should have a business profile on LinkedIn

12 reasons you should have a business profile on LinkedIn
LinkedIn is THE place for business people to connect and network, so it is only natural to have a business profile on LinkedIn, too.  In the same way a personal profile can display skills and expertise, a business profile can showcase the company and communicate with its followers.  However, what distinguishes a LinkedIn business profile from a business website is people.  See my 12 reasons why, if you have a business and are on LinkedIn, you need to set up a business profile:

  1. Your company profile will have 4 tabs, covering general information, careers, products and services and employee insights
  2. Your company profile has a link to your website
  3. Your company can have followers, who will then see your company updates and have the opportunity to share them with their connections
  4. You company followers will be people interested in your company for example current and past employees, potential employees, shareholders and the competition!
  5. Your company profile can showcase your products and services, with images, videos and links to product information on the company website
  6. Your employees can link their profile to the company profile, so that when you share an update on your business profile, your staff could share that update to their connections.
  7. For bigger companies, your careers profile tab can be tailored to include information about jobs, information for prospective employees and company updates.
  8. People can see if they know anyone in the company or if anyone in their network works there
  9. The employee insights tab includes the most recommended staff.  These would be perceived as the people to connect with and reflect well on the company
  10. The employee insights tab also display the organisations where employees came from and the top skills and expertise of staff at the company.  Anyone interested in working for your company knows what skills and expertise are required, and if motivated, go and acquire them!
  11. Admins can access follower insights such as demographics and company updates engagement
  12. Admins can access page insights such as how many people clicked which tab and which products

The downside of a company profile is that your employees are a reflection of the company, so if they have profiles that were poorly set up, or incomplete, this could potentially reflect badly on the company, showing for example, that it’s staff don’t keep up with technology.  It is therefore important that the company assesses the quality of those profiles, and where needed, offers training on how to optimise them and keep them up to date.  Karen’s eBooks provides an assessment service and can offer guidance on how to improve both personal and business profile on LinkedIn.  Check out my recommendations on my LinkedIn profile and  testimonials page  then message or connect with me.
